christmas is here again
Now that Thanksgiving is over I need to start planning out Christmas.
This is the time I start making lists. I seem to need a list of gifts to purchase, and for who.
A list of Christmas cards to go out a long with addresses.
A list of new decorations to buy and a plan to go along with it.
A list of holiday cleaning to tackle. A list of christmas events over the month. A list of baking to do, and a list to do shopping for christmas dinner. and many more lists.
And every year I vow to keep it simple. throw out the list and just do what I can. no going over board. No holiday stress. just simple, but wonderful. And take enjoyment in the season. more laughter. more wonderment. find the peace and spirit of christmas I seek. This will be my year!

A THANKSGIVING PRAYER
A Thanksgiving PrayerBy Glenda Adams
Dear Heavenly Father,
Please make us an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy. As we pray together today, let us remember that things don't happen over night.
Let us not forget the struggles we all are going thru in this movement for economic injustice.
Even if frustration may set in; Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Amen.

I joined a simple womans daybook
outside my window....
I am thinking...
Of all the things that need to be done today
I am thankful...
getting to sleep in this morning ah that felt good.
In the kitchen...
I am thinking of making pot roast soup for dinner with some good crusty bread.
I am wearing...
I hate to admit this but I am still in my PJ's.
I am creating...
In the craft room I am putting together art kits for my grandchildren for Christmas I have a lot of extras in there and thought that would make a nice gift for them.
I am going...
Going shopping for thanksgiving dinner. I still need to make a list so I don't have to make a rerun to the store
I am wondering...
About how I'm going to extend the table for thanksgiving. we have such a small dinning room. Maybe I can move furniture to extend it into living room.
I am reading...
an Amish cookbook. I know it sounds silly but I love reading a cookbook
I am hoping...
Secretly I am hoping my son makes it home for Thanksgiving. Hes in another state working on an oil rig. I know it probably won't happen, seeing he has to be back at work early the next day. but as a mama we always want our children around.
I am looking forward to...
To the grandchildren coming this week
I am hearing...
My husband putting wood into the big furnace.
Around the house...
lots of cleaning in honor of the big day. lol
I am pondering...
On which pies to make this thanksgiving
One of my favorite things...
Tea in front of my big bay window in the breakfast nook. watching the ducks in the pond.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Mostly anything I can do to get ready for Thanksgiving
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
My son Kyle and his dog Zeek.

thanks giving rush
Its getting really close to thanksgiving, and I haven't even started planning it all out yet. Time to get busy!
Thanksgiving!
T'was the morn of Thanksgiving
and all through the house,
Mother is dusting
and shoo-ing her spouse;
T'was the morn of Thanksgiving
and all through the house,
Mother is dusting
and shoo-ing her spouse;
The table is set for the family with care,
in hopes that the in-laws soon will be there;
The (grown) children are hustling in their kitchens with dread,
"Oh, why didn't I prepare my dish a day ahead?"
As Dad with a blanket and the dog with a yap
are just settling down for a late morning nap,
out in the kitchen there arose such a clatter
they spring from their slumber to see what's the matter;
Away to the stairs Dad flies like a flash,
turns on the light and runs down in a dash;
The self-rising flour covers the kitchen like snow,
giving a dusting of white to all objects below.
When, what to Dad's wondering eyes should appear?
But Mother dressed in flour from left to right ear;
With a broom and a mop she cleans it up quick,
knowing there are more Thanksgiving dishes to fix;
More rapid than children with candy to claim,
she whistles and shouts and gets on with the game;
Now Turkey, now Ham, now Potatoes and Fixings!
On Pudding, on Dressing, on Green Beans and Mixing!
To the top of the stove and the oven rack she calls,
Cook away! Bake away! Brown away all!
As the Butterball turkey in hot oil does fry,
Mother whips up the Thanksgiving pie;
So back to the recliner Dad and dog flew,
With blanket, remote and TV Guide too.
Sparks flying from the satelite dish on the roof,
football teams are vying, their winning the proof;
Mom takes a short break, turning around,
She sees the team quarterback thrown to the ground.
Dressed in team colors from his head to his foot,
the medic claims his game-playing today is caput!
Back to the meal, Mother's on the attack,
She moves casserole dish from front rack to back;
Her eyes all a'twinkle, her dimples how merry!
Her cheeks red as roses, and her nose like a cherry!
The Thanksgiving meal is tied up with a bow,
As all is ready, all the ducks in a row!
A faint knock at the door soon is bequeath
The in-laws arrive, bestowing a wreath.
MaMa brings jars of strawberry jelly,
PaPa makes his way to the front of the telli;
Then who should arrive but the daughters themself,
As Mother tells tale of flour missing the shelf;
The coffee is set on for a perk,
Mother brings an end to her holiday work,
Beverages, favorites and seating arrangements are chose,
the Thanksgiving blessing left for PaPa to compose;
We give thanks for our family, all hope and great love,
every gift given from the Father above.
And Mother exclaims as Thanksgiving's end is in sight,
Happy Thanksgiving to all
and to all a good night.
Hope your all enjoying your weekend. Nancy

DEER OH DEER!
we stood and watch for a while. There is just something about the beauty of wild life that makes me feel so awe struck, a part of something much larger.
After a while we went back inside and watched from our big bay window.
We find their tracks in the wet earth from time to time. I think they eat out of the garden most nights. But we sure do enjoy seeing them. Can you see Two deer in this picture?

Our Rooster
taking a break from work, enjoying a little fresh
air when this little chicken ran by me followed by
a large cat. he dove for the bush next to me. the
cat following him in part way reaching with his
paws to get him. I grabbed a box near by shooed
the cat away and reach in and scooped up the little
white guy.
He was so scared he was shaking really
bad so I cooed to him and told him he
would be OK. not knowing where he
came from or if he escaped or was
dumped. I took him home. We
already had chickens so it was no big
deal to take in another. Or so we
thought. We over looked the fact that
all our other chickens were full grown
with two not so nice roosters.
So we built him his own little house inside
the coop with a small hole so he could come
and go as he pleased. The hole was two small for the other chicks. And he had his own water and food
He felt safe.
So as he grew he had lots of extra care
and love.
Soon he was as big as the others and one day he crowed.
loud and clear
yes our little white hen was a rooster and a loud one at that.
It wasn't long after that we decided to get rid the two mean roosters we had.
And Roo became king of his flock
He was quite the ladies man
they would flirt about him
and he made them all happy.
over the years we found out many times he was a lover not a fighter.
He would try to protect the girls,
but a little blood and he would run.
he proved it over and over
there he is the white one.
Well recently we save another rooster and sadly he took over the flock
The other rooster would run roo off.
and hurt him.
So once again I tried to protect him.
And sadly this weekend he passed over.
He will never be forgotten.
He was a lover
and we loved
him.
