FRESH EGGS

There is nothing better than fresh eggs. We started selling eggs a short while back and we have had a flood of customers.
Some people only want the brown eggs.
Some prefer white eggs.
Some are thrilled with the different colors, blue, green, pink, tan, chocolate, and brown.
Some would like new born eggs claiming they have more protein
Some say the fertilized eggs are better for you.
We just like them because they are so fresh and yummy.

some of are chickens

We feed them lots of omega 3 feed they also free range, sometimes right into my garden.

We charge 3.00 a dozen

Eggs are a very good thing and fresh is better.
Where do you get your eggs from?

It takes a 24-26 hours cycle for a hen to produce a single egg.Depending on the breed and age of a hen, eggs may be produced daily, or only a couple per week.

Have a egg-cellent day  Nancy from farmers in the dell

SCARECROWS ATTIC

Over the weekend I went out and I stopped here and there at different garage sales. one sign I seen had my curiosity going from the start it
said..... scarecrows attic. I thought hmmmm. and so on my way back I made sure I stopped there.  It was full of Halloween stuff. most of it was revamped items. I thought wow this is pretty cool. I bought a bird cage that was at one time white and full of artificial flowers. they removed all of it and spray painted it black including a bird that was in it.  here is a photo

It was the second day of the sale, and in the later part of the day so I'm sure I missed a lot
I think I'll look for a crow and change out the bird

Next year I would like to get there early. Hope you had a great weekend.  Nancy

SAVE THE FISH

My ducks finally discovered my koi pond.  I was in the kitchen today and I heard a big
splash I looked out the window, And there was my two big boy ducks they had landed
in the pond.  As I stood motionless for a moment I seen one dive down under the water.
I screamed all I could think was they were going to eat my Koi.  So I grabbed up my Kitchen
broom and went charging to the pond. poking my broom in the water, luckily they responded

wanting no part of the broom. So out they came, and then back in they went. uggg!  So I waved my broom around flapped my apron and stamped my feet. Finally they got the point with some well chosen words and a look they left.

Here is a picture some of my ducks The ones in front are Indian Runners I have five of them
but the two bad boys are the ones in back. They are half Muscovy the other half Mallard. They
are really fun ducks they loved to play. They love playing with the chickens too with a playful nip here and there. But the chickens don't quite see it their way.   They are in the pen because we keep them there every night they head for the pen which is all fenced in for their protection from raccoons

And in the day they roam around and get into mischief lol.

Here is a picture of my Koi pond,   We put it between the circular drive that we still have to pave.
We are eventually put in a small stream that will run down from the cherry tree, expand the pond,
and nestle a bridge over the stream.

They are such beautiful fish to just quietly sit and watch. It just totally relaxes me. I sure
hope that they all made it. Tomorrow will tell at feeding time.
Do you have a funny animal story?  Nancy

Happy Fall

Its Fall
Time for leaves to fall in colors of gold, russet reds, pumpkin orange.
a time to gather all that remains of a garden, Pick apples for pies and crisps, to make carmel apples, and for kids to bob.   You can smell the
smoke of many a fires in the evening when the chill sets in.  Yes fall has come home.

I just love the color of my tomato sauce this year,
doesn't it just scream fall!  This year I grew orange
heirloom tomatos. Just imagine this over a plate of
pasta. How smart is that.  I can't wait to try it out and post pictures

some pictures of my garden   not much remains  But I did get some orange pumpkins, last year I
had a ton of the white ones. I kinda like the orange ones. how about you?

Two cuties find a home

This weekend we had to say goodbye to two sweeties.
My persian cat  (Cuddles) had a litter of two kittens.
They were 7 weeks old on sunday .  and it was time for
them to go . which is so hard to do you just want to keep
them because there so cute and fluffy.
They went to very good homes. One of the couples drove
9 hours for one of them.  Its wonderful to see them with
their new bundle of joy.    Hope your weekend  was great!

september

"The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel-
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive,
Well-honeyed hum,
And Mother cuts
Chrysanthemums.
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
A morning haze.
"- John Updike, September

Yesterday  we got a new rooster.   He was rescued from someone throwing him over a cliff, along with some hens.  He is a beautiful rooster with reds, golds, black, brown and blue. Sadly someone had pulled out his beautiful tail feathers.  He is safe now with lots of chicks to comfort him.   I will take some photos of him soon. I want to give him a few days to settle in.

This is what my other rooster looks like, I sure hope the two boys will get along.

our new home

A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams.
                                                                         John Barrymore

This was our dream to own a place with a little land, not much but enough for us.  We move in the end of January and we are still living out of boxes. I have high hopes that by this January we will see the last of them. Ha ha heres to dreams again.  We do have a start to our animals we have two persian cats, 43 chickens, eight ducks, and 5 koi. we are hoping to find a milk cow, and later some pigs. we Have put in a garden this summer and we have a small orchard  ( at least thats we call it.) it consists of 3 cherry trees, 4 apples, two plums, and a peach. in front we have two pear,a cherry and a peach and plum.  I think thats a good start.

  What are your dreams?
